Reading is a window to the world and a door to a successful future. The more children read, the bigger their vocabulary will become and the greater their chance of success is in school and in life!
But to read, you gotta have books!
Galarza Elementary, the Willow Glen school with whom we have been partnering, is focusing this year on expanding their classroom libraries, so their students will have more books to read. 74% of Galarza’s students are low-income children who are on Title 1 subsidized school lunches and having good reading ability may be the key that will open the door to their future success.
The school is requesting books in English for children from kindergarten to 5th grade and in Spanish for grades 1st-3rd.
Let’s be a blessing to them by bring in our kid’s books to the church by Aug. 5th, so that they can be ready for the children when school starts!
If you'd like to help sort and label the books, sign up below for Sort Day on Aug. 14, 9-11 am at church.
