Winter Week 6 Good News For The Guilty
Leaders,
We are in week 6 of the Community Group season, our Serve Experience week. That does not mean that the regular group meeting has to be replaced with a service project–although that is great if it is–but it does mean that we encourage every group to find a way to serve together this week or next. Serving is an often overlooked yet incredibly important element of growth in our relationship with God, and it is also tremendously impactful on our relationships with others. Serving together bonds us together as we serve, and it also shows the heart of love we want to display to those around us. So, whether it is a clean-up day at the church, serving with an organization like Second Harvest, or coming alongside someone in your group, please make sure your group finds a way to serve together.
For the questions this week we will be in Romans 2:17-3:8 with the focus being on the difference between having a relationship with God—having the connection and relationship with Him the priority—compared with trying to earn favor through accolades and deeds. To really dig into this, talk through why we sometimes want to base things on our deeds, and how that can connect to our desire to be in control and make us feel better than others.
Have a good week.
